Akashinga, Phundundu Reserve, Zimbabwe

The incredible all-female anti poaching unit in Zimbabwe

Akashinga

Dogs4Wildlife were requested to support the Akashinga K9 unit across the vast and diverse Phundundu wildlife reserve in Zimbabwe. With an all-female led ranger unit and some incredible dogs, Dogs 4 Wildlife provided a detailed and advanced training programme and evaluation for both the K9 unit and reserve managers.

The Dogs4Wildlife team worked on specialist detection training to help develop the units ability to locate bush meat, ammunition and firearms hidden in either the local community and or vehicles at road blocks set up by the local police units, alongside advancing the units ability to track and apprehend any would be poachers entering the reserve to hunt wildlife.
