Our Funda Kahle programme is a targeted initiative designed to address youth unemployment and economic hardship in rural communities located alongside wildlife reserves in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa.

The programme delivers fully funded, certificated skills training aligned to real employment opportunities within conservation-linked environments. Training areas include hospitality roles such as barista, waitressing, and bar service, as well as practical skills such as construction, maintenance, and other operational roles required within wildlife reserves and lodges. All training is delivered through recognised providers and results in participants gaining formal, transferable qualifications.

A key component of the programme is its direct link to employment. Dogs4Wildlife works closely with wildlife reserves, lodges, and conservation partners to identify workforce needs and create clear pathways into full-time roles for programme participants. This ensures that training is not delivered in isolation, but is directly connected to job placement and income generation.

The primary beneficiaries are young people from marginalised, rural communities who face significant barriers to employment, including limited access to education, lack of formal qualifications, and few local job opportunities. Without intervention, many of these individuals remain excluded from the formal economy, contributing to cycles of poverty, instability, and limited future prospects.
